This problem has to do with SIP trunking. The above two units at one site on a switch easily communicate with each other and can place both intercom and outbound trunk calls to and through each other. When I take the one unit off site and it's connected via a VPN tunnel, testing from either BCM indicates that I can ping each other 1 hop either way.
1)From the 4.0 end - I can intercom, but if allowed to go to voicemail at the far end, it never connects although the BCM monitor shows it has gone to voicemail. If I wait, it will disconnect the originating phone when the voicemail times out. If I try and place outside calls, again I can see using BCM monitor that the call is placed at the far end, however the originating set continues to ring even though the far end shows connected. Strangely, if I call a cell phone it does through, and the BCM shows extra steps in the MCDN lines like "PROGRESS" and "CC-____".
2) From the BCM50 end - Intercom or tandem outbound calls result in "no response" messages in the phone display and show no indication of being transmitted in the far end BCM monitor. All of these function work perfect when both units are on the same switch it's only when the VPN tunnel is between them that there seems to be these problems, yet I can program either using element manager from the remote site or even off prem over a vpn, and as stated earlier both units can ping each other and show tracert 1 step? Could it be patches or VPN tunnel issue? Any help or similar problem resolution would be appreciated. The 50 is 2.0.2.05e and the 1000 is 4.0.2.03a.
