I have a customer who has Tadiran Emerald Ice phones & wants a handset cord detangler. The jack where the handset plugs in is recessed deeper than most hansets. We also get requests for detanglers for the Samsung Falcon style phones & have the same problem.I realize as service technicians we hate these things but the ladies are really bugging me about it. Anyone have a source for a detangler that would work with these phones? I've tried a couple with no luck & the manufacturers are no help. Thanks.

Mike Sandman Enterprises ( www.sandman.com) sells the ones that have about a 1" cord on them that we have used in the past in similar situations. Sandman's part number is MON9M that will do the trick, but they aren't cheap. Their phone number is 630-980-7710.

We have Mitel for our system. We get a lot of detanglers from Vendor reps that stop by. I take them off whenever I can. They are a point of failure and can be a real pain to remove if they do break. Most of our heavy phone users use headsets anyway so they really don't need the detanglers.

I sell the Ice systems as well and in a pinch I found a detangler that fits perfectly, in K-mart (of all places!) made by att $4.95 ea. I would shop around if you plan on stocking them. I don't keep them in stock and recommed to my customers not to use detanglers because every 6-9 months they go bad and cause static. It is something THEY add to the phones and if I have to dispatch for a static prob. and its a detangler they will be billed. :read:

Detanglers also don't take too kindly to being stressed, such as when the coiled handset cord is fully stretched.
Most of the phones (Nortel) in our office use black AT&T (VTech) detanglers and we have had very good results with them. :thumb: Only had 1 fail and that was due to excessive stress.
