We have an old PBX that has had this VM working for years, on a service call, a tech disabled the MWI port in the voicemail because it wouldn't answer, he was too young to know about MWI ports on old Mitel’s. When they noticed a month later that MWI didn't work we went out and put the port back in service, now the 9 year old MWI on & off string don't work, nobody at CTL can even tell us what their string meant. They gave us a new one that was incorrect and the only 200 analog tech that has retired could tell us , was that whatever a 4DN has to do, the string will have to emulate. We've written a string that is only a toggle, in other words if they get 2 VM's, the second message turns the light off, then when they listen, it turns it back on again. Is there anybody that can tell us what the string "XP$0" (MWI on) & "XP$F" (MWI off) means or knows what needs to changed or corrected in the PBX's programming to fix this problem?

Offhook, Pause, System set code. Offhook, Pause, System cancel code. Codes should be in Access code tables of the Mitel. Only I see no 'ONHOOK' at the end of the string. Maybe that's a 'known' function, that is, the VM 'KNOWS' to disconnect. And the DN SS did not work on the Analog 200. You probably have a 217 Generic. Let us know. John C.

John C. It is a 217 rev 11 or 13. In the MWI on string, should it be a zero or the letter "Oh", it has been re-entered as a zero, but it wasn't working at that time anyway. I suspect the problem is now in the system set and cancel codes. Is that in anyway like form 2 of the digital/light products?

what the voice mail needs to do is emulate the keystrokes of the superset 4 in setting and canceling the message waiting. Unfortunately I don't know how your VMS is translating those codes in their program.

Obviously, I forgot to mention that after the offhook/pause there should also be an EXTENSION NUMBER and a pause. Otherwise, the Mitel will not know what extension to set or cancel the MWI on. (DUH!) Sorry. I'll give you a buzz around 8A thursday if that works 4 you. John C.
