Ok I have the feeling I'm looking in all the wrong places however, I have the need to setup extensions for people who don't have desks.

We have one 4150 position that I have a non-existant PKM that I programmed to have the key apperance however I can't seem to find a way to program the forwarding on that extension from the console, it just gives me a busy tone. If I call it, it just rings and rings and never goes to vm.

I know there is a simple answer but I think the forrest is hidding behind the trees.

Thanks
-Chris

You can only set call forwarding on devices that are assigned to their own bay/slot/circuit, not "logical"lines.
Program a fake line card, in a fake cabinet (you'll need to adjust alarm thresholds)and assign an extension number to it. You'll be able to forward that new extension from the console.
If you assign the new 'fake' ext. with a class of service that does not inculdes option number 258 (display prime as forwarder), any button on that phone would automatically forward to voice mail, and carry the button's ID, not the prime line's. That feature works very well if you need to have a lot of DID's or phantom exts. for offsite employees.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm still trying to find where to set the alarm levels, for some reason I can get in as INST in CDE but not in Maintenance, for that I can get in as MAINT1, dunno why the passwords would be different but in either case can't seem to find where to set the thresholds. I added the card and then set and it throws the major alarm as expected.

You have to do it through maintenance with the installer logon.

Yes unfortunately you can set alarm levels without installer level access. personally I think it's kind of stupid because Maint1 will let you change things that are a lot more operationally pertinent than alarm thresholds. Still what do I know - I'm Polish. Also you can't change passwords in maintenance without the installer level access.

as in 0000, 0001 ...

not as brutal as what was suggested in private (a great suggestion), though that thought did cross my mind, however I can't afford the risk of rebuilding from scratch.

Let's see, isn't this a geometric progression that goes 36 X 35 X 34...........X1 - 1 = OMG, I don't have enough time left in my life. Oh, and as I recall, the character string can be 4 to 13 characters?
SOME INSTALLERS relate the password to the company's Phone or fax #. Others have there own PW. Others just pull a string of characters out of the air. And SOMETIMES it's written inside the cabinet, or on the bottom or back, or in the front cover, or on the MDF. Rotsa ruck, been there, not going back, wasn't fun! frown John C.
