I am able to log in without issue using my laptop however I can't seem to log in (and i have tried all sorts of modem init codes) from the onsite computer with a modem. The computer is connected to a direct outside line, it dials and gets the prompt and connects however right after connecting the following message is shown.
log in failed !!! with return result -20
Any suggestions?
Oh and yes I did previously post this back some time ago, situation hasn't really changed, i'd just like to be able to get logged in using the onsite equipment as I don't feel like lugging in the laptop every time i need to make a change.

The AT Result Code of 20 means "connect at 7200". Sounds like you've negotiated a connection between your modems at 7200 instead of 9600

I'm laying odds that this message (considering its a negative to boot) is a software error of some kind. The port IS set normally and not to PMS mode. I can dial in using the modem on my laptop but not on the modem here. I've tried using ATS37=6 to limit it to 2400 just to make sure there were no handshake gotchyas but somthing is a miss.
