It's an interesting step. Aside from the assumed elimination of compatibility problems and the inevitable fiddling periods normally present with SIP trunk installs, I am waiting to see what kind of truly unique solutions this lets ESI move into.

May just breathe a spark of life into what's been a waning industry race to find SIP superiority..

Do you all think they will offer the hosted PBX as a "re-sellable" service to all of its resellers (us)? Maybe I am just reading to much into this but they could very well become our competition.

I got the impression we would be offering it as resellers.

I really hope that is the case and they do not sell it directly.

Just took a look at the Vintalk website, Looks like a Hosted set up using probably the Polycom IP phones that are slowly but surely becoming a standard in a lot of offices using Hosted. Interesting that ESI seem to have finally jumped on the Hosted bandwagon, but i wonder where they will be in say 10 years as in my area, any interconnect who wants to re-sell or white label a Hosted voip system has their pick of many who all do the same hosted set ups. Not to mention Carriers, CLECS & Cable companies all selling the same thing directly.
