I know there are amps that can be installed between the phone and handset to increase the volume of what one hears. Anything out there to increase the output volume?

Your question could probably be answered by another question. Why would this be necessary? If high ambient noise is the problem then increasing the transmitter volume will only make things worse. There are noise canceling handsets for this application.

Walker by Clarity (now owned by Plantronics - see https://www.handset.com/amplified_handsets.htm )
has been making amplified handsets for years. Give a look...

The problem is a certain user who says the party on the other end of a call sometimes have trouble hearing her. She is in a quite office, not using a headset, and the problem is intermittent. I have changed her Avaya digital phone 3 times. She is a PR person, not soft spoken. I chalk it up to, who knows where she is calling and what the conditions are on the other end of the call. But she is in a high profile position so I have to do everything possible to "fix" this problem.

The problem does not appear to be on the station side. Look to the trunk side or CO issue!

Like jwooten says it is possibly on the CO side. The first thing I change for these kind of problems is the handset and handset cord. You might try the base cord too. Did you change it to a different port on the phone switch?

It's possible that the problem is between the chair and the handset. Just a thought, it certainly wouldn't be the first time.

To soften Mark K.'s comment, note that most handsets are extremely directional these days. A lot like the old 'Confidencer' by Roan. Let that mouthpiece drop below the 'point' of your chin, and bingo, low transmit. You might discuss this with your user, ask her if that is a possibility that neither of you had thought of. It would, I imagine, happen at the end of a 'TRYING' day. (Diplomacy will oft times clear the problem) smile John C.

A trunk side or CO issue for one single station on a huge Definity switch?
